We should pick a lake and all place bets to see when it will have open water... Tough to pick the lake...

Wasnt there a small town that used to put a vehicle in the middle of the lake at the end of Feb to watch it fall in?

I thought I heard this somewhere before?  Seems kind of toxic though.

I was out ice fishing on the 21st and there was 18-22 inches of Ice on a lake down here.  Seems like it will be may before she goes!

My prediction for Ice out on my 686 acre lake is.....April 14th! by lets say.....5PM

Man, if I have to wait until April 24, I think I might have to check out the ice-breaking capabilities of a Maristar. Makes me wonder why the heck I moved to Minnesota...oh yeah, its all my wife's fault! I remember many years doing a SeaDoo ride on New Years Day...

Justin,
that is pretty funny, I drove by that car on the ice a couple of weeks ago. That thing was totally stripped down its up north I want to say just outside of Virgina. I think that their bets are going to be a little off this year.

I adjusted to a little more accurate time...April 14th.

I hear ya on Ice breaking capabilities, but lets experiment with yours, :D

Seadoo's on New Years?  Id say get a Ski-Doo, but there isn't enough snow lately anyway.  Where did you used to live?

I dont know.  I always thought it was an Old Man's Tale.  One of those things your dad and his buddies always talk about while drinking crappy Sclitz beer or something.  My guess is that the betting is done in a cheap bar that only serves PBR and Premos...  I would like to be there.

Also, I just searched Google a ton trying to find it. No luck, For some reason I think that those Rangers are not always the most up to date techies...

St. Louis, we boated on Lake of the Ozarks.

Man, something just doesn't seem right about driving a car the ice, but I could imagine it would be cool to see one drop though if you were lucky enough to be around when it happened.

I bet many a beer was consume this time of year waiting to see it go down.  That would be an eventful weekend for a couple of the those Rangers.

So I heard throught the grape vine that around 5 guys went out wakeboarding on Sunday down on the Minnesota River... Temps were Air 54 (according to car thermometer) and water was a steam 39.

I still have yet to hear if it was worth it.

spring took too long to get here, I doubt I get the boat in the lake before mid-may now. Wife is due with baby in 3 weeks, so much for my spring filled with skiing.

My hope dream will be that I'll need to call up those guys at Midwest MC to take my duaghter to buy her first slalom ski sooner than later...now that would make dad happy.  I have a hunch that my wife has plans that will require me to keep the trainers a little longer after this kid is born in the next couple of weeks.  I'm confident they won't have an issue helping her into a new stick!  ;)

Is this your first kid in September?  Get a good bimini to keep that wife comfortable at the end of the season.

It will be.  We are having a girl, so I am even more lost:shock:.  Should be great.  Thanks for the advise on the bimini, that is something I may have to invest in.

Little girls are great...my 3 year old gets more and more fun every day!  She's ready for the first boat ride of the year...now we just need the weather to cooperate and mommy to have a baby.

I second dpolen's advice on the bimini.  A great addition for a pregnant wife and/or kids.  I have three daugthers, ages 7, 5 and 2.  They are a blast and love being in the boat.  The seven year old skis on a pair of O'Brien trainers (not strapped together).  The older two are excellent spotters for the times when mom pulls me slaloming and barefooting.
