A freind of mine is getting married next fall and is looking at going to Hawaii for a honey moon. Has anyone every been and know of any great places? Also is there a place to go wakeboarding as well. I heard a while back that a pro wakeboarder retired there.

Well you were right about the pro retiring (SP?) in HI. Darin Shaprio, inventor of the speedball, to be exact. He used to run Ride the Spot in FL, it was a wake camp type thing. But he is pretty much out of the scene now.
I have heard about some of the resorts doing having some type of wakeboard boat or option that you can do, much like going snorkeling or deep sea fishing that sort of thing. But I would be prepared to be in an older DD ski boat w/o tower.
But hey its still riding!

| Oh man Hawaii is AWESOME!!! Heather and I stayed in Maui for our honeymoon. It is unreal, I would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in Kehei (sp?) Let me know if you have any questions, I could ramble on for days about that place.

| Well its official the honey moon is booked for Hawaii. The parents have a time share program that has a location on the island of Kauai. For you movie buffs that is where they did most of the filming for Jurassic Park and just by chance they have the only navigable rivers in Hawaii!!

During the monsoon (sp?) season they have some crazy swells that come out of the river there. Where the river flows into the ocean it creates this awesome wave that does not move, it just sits in one spot. You can literally ride the wake till you pass out. its crazy and its like 8-10 feet tall also!

Well I don't know anything about Kuai except that a guy I used to work with decided to move there one day. He sold pretty much everything he owned except his bike a tent and some clothes. Used the money to buy a one way ticket, talked to him once since then he's lovin it out there.
Kudos to Mike for making his dream a reality!
