We finally got some info on Zero Off. We sent numerous requests for information to ZO without the courtesy of a call back last summer. Unlike PP, ZO requires a totally different engine controller which PCM already uses. I guess this is why MC and Malibu have not jumped to ZO quite as quickly as CC did. I think they are concerned about the potential for warranty gray areas caused by the new ECM. MC is going to install ZO in the 2008 Tournament Team boats as a test.
Zero Off said that they will have kits available for 2007 and 2008 boats in November. They have no plans to go back farther than that point. They said that they are only chasing the OEM cruise control business and have no desire to retrofit older boats.
It will be interesting to see if ZO can produce a better customer resonse than they already have. I'm sure PP and other companies are working on GPS based options. It is safe to say that cruise is in for a big technology boost in the next year or two. Has anyone out ther run ZO? I have heard good things from those who have.

It did not take long for Perfecr Pass to answer back. Perfect Pass released StarGarzer their verions of GPS Cruise.
Check out http://www.perfectpass.com for more information.
The good news is that StarGazer will be an upgrade for all boats with Digital Pro! The cost is expected to be $400 if you have the larger LCD display and around $600 if you have the older single line display.

| I am surprised there was not many rumors about this system. I figured along with the rest of the watersking world, that PP would have somthing but not this soon.

At the Collegiate Wisconsin State Tournament this last weekend I jumped behind a 08 Natique which is equipped with Zero Off. It is definitely a different pull and I can understand why there has been some concerns about what system to run. Over all the pull is much softer and I thought easier compared to the “jerkiness” of jumping with a switch. It did seem like there was a lot of “slow” boat times over the weekend as well . I thought it was nice overall especially being that we never practice on a boat with magnets or a jump switch
Rumor has it Freddy went 245 with zero off this last weekend at McCormicks so people must be adjusting!

We just got a Press Release today that Perfect Pass and Zero Off had come to an agreement that PP would not sell GPS based systems to the OEM's for 2009?! We have an email in to PP to get clarifiaction. The press release said that PP had sold that portion of their business.
From several of our slalom customers that have skied both systems prefered Stargazer. It is still early. I understand there are updates to both systems already! I think either could be a viable option. I hate that there is always such a process with hype, product issues, product update(s)... to eventually get something worked out.
So far Zero Off has been horrible about communication with the dealers. If they eventually become the only game in town there will be little reason for them to do a better job. PP has always been great to work with. I hope Zero Off gets their act together.
