So last year I took my first couple of set barefooting.  I started from a surfboard in the sitting position.  I actually did pretty good for the first couple of times out there.  Long line, no barefoot suit.

My question is how much does a barefoot suit actually help?  My dad is way old school and said that he never needed it.

I am mainly a wakeboarder but liked the change of things.  Is it worth it?  Does a suit really help that much?

Ouch...that 2nd wipeout looked painful...imagine there were a few cold ones consumed after that one.

Looks like you left the ballast in the boat for these sets. Either that or the TriStar has a pretty big footin wake.

There is smaller out there. Thats for sure, but in the last clip at the end of the video you can get an idea of what it is like at 41-42 mph.

Corey, what kind of footing wake are you used to?

I've been barefooting since I was 8 years old and have only used either a pair of neoprene shorts or a regular wetsuit.  When I was younger and attempting more tricks I think a barefoot suit would have saved a few bruises.  Unless you get into serious tricks such as turns, etc. I think you don't need a specific barefoot suit.  Now that I am.... well, let's just say I've been footin for a long time, I just use the neoprene shorts for runs when it is warm and the full wetsuit when it is colder.  By the way, I usually wear a pair of neoprene boots (like SCUBA divers wear) when I foot.  Bare feet at 40 mph don't mix well with either dead fish or sticks in the water.  Believe me, I have first hand experience with both.

I hear ya on the neo shoes/booties thought that would be a nice touch.  I will have to try it with the shorty suit sometime this season.

Overall I really enjoyed it, its hard to give up the good water though, I would almost always want to wakeboard if the water is flat enough.  Who knows!

Thanks for the help guys.

I haven't personally done this yet, but I ride with 3 others that have all the same way. Start on a wakeskate, Use the Byerly skate shoes too. I would think the suit is only for the hardcores.  Even a spring shorty would work out just fine.

The only boat I've ever footed behind was an outboard of some sort.

I had a lot of fun until I fell. i remember being double over in pain and barley able to get back in the boat. I thought some of my parts were bleeding, they were not but I'm not chancing it anymore. Shorts for sure.

If you are just gonna step off, you dont need a bf suite. as soon as you do deeps and tumble turns you are going to want to rock a bf suit and shorts. As for booty's, well it isnt BAREfooting.

Ha! I like that. Thats kinda what I figured. Are tumble turns and dropping down tough? Is it worth it, or did my extensive footing career peak already?
