so, I am thiking this is the year for another board.  I currently have the LF Substace from I think 06'.

Now then I was able to get the watson CT boot last year so naturally I am thinking of the Watson board.

In the past I have ridden a 05 Premier, when It was black and red....really loved that board.

Riding style is that of freeride, with about 6 differnt inverts( 3 each side).  Needs to land soft, though.

Any suggestions.  Hoping this type of talk will help get through a cold ass February in MN.  Thanks.

Justin

I like where your heads at.  Many boards to think of.

If you want to stay LF I would think that you would really like the way that the Watson or Shane land.  Super soft, the Watson even more so than the Shane.  The Shane rides a little faster than the Watson, but I think that if you prefer the Freeride style, and that of the old premiers, you will really like the watson.

If you want to move around on other companies you should check out this years B-Side.  It is based off the shape of the premier, so it has a very strong freeride background.  It releases of the wake better, or so I have heard, havent been out on one yet...That board would also look sick with the Watsons that you already rockin'

How do you like the boots, I am getting a pair of the Limiteds this year,  wish I could get out and try them now....

So comfy.  I took the hot tub bath with them on and wow....I felt dumb but the fit is perfect now.

I went to these from A LF Ultra suck.  Problem was when I would land,I would have a piercing pain running from about my knee through my ankle, much like shin splints.  Double ups were killer on me.

The same day I switched boots, the pain went away.

The only thing I can say that could use improvement is the release factor.  You really need to crash and burn to come out.  Could be tough on the knees, I had one fall last year that was scary, but I'm fine now.  Wouldn't go back to open toe boots.  Kind of like a traditional wakeboard, to a twin tip, its that dramatic.

Do you want to buy some now......

Yeah I know but its after 5 for me:D.

Those boots are dope.  The white scares me with the water getting as green as it does around here.  but I can be somewhat lazy with gear, but never compromise the boat:dude:

I just realized my last post does nothing to help with the board choice. Without actually having ridden the Watson it's hard for me to fully endorse it, though I have yet to meet anyone that didnt like it.

I'm on the Ronix Frontier right now, and if I can upgrade this year I'm going to check out the Watson, Axis and Witness from LF. I'm intriuged by the Hyperlite Tribute too, mostly because it was designed by Greg Nelson and I landed my first two inverts on a Greg Nelson designed board so I figure the new one should easily double my riding ability, right?

Just kidding, I do really want to ride the Tribute though.

I have never ridden any of the Ronix products.  I would imagine that some are similar to the hyperlites of a few years ago.  Assumtion here!

Can you do a demo on boards through midwest?  Boat included????:D

How much?

First things first, all boards are going to be rather similiar. There are only so many board shapers in the inudstry, they all came from the same background and influence each other a lot. So that being said, the platform is going to be oddly similiar. Now comparing Hyperlites to Ronix, you will find a similiar ride to many high end shapes. This is because of the rider influence of the shape. Danny wants a board that is a freeride turn, with more straight up pop - this was the Premier from Hyp and is now the One from Ronix. Same with Chad Sharpe - 3DS and now Covin.
Now overall differences are present accross the companies as a whole.
Hyperelite likes to offer more slider friendly shapes with a denser core that is more durable to a beating (ABS Fins, Jib Ribs, etc.)
Ronix offers a light swing weight. Shallower/Thinner board profiles and lighter boots.
Some things come down to just riding the board.

Lastly, We do demo boards! A lot of them! Typically how the program works is $25 a day (50 for friday to monday) The cool part is everything that you spend goes towards a final board purchase. So it is totally money well spent!

Sorry for the length, but I hope this helps.

My list of boards to demo this year

1. Hyperlite Murray
2. Slingshot Recoil
3. Hyperlite Tribute
4. Liquid Force Axis
5. Liquid Force Witness

I might try a couple other but these are the main boards that have me REALLY pumped for this season.

You will not be disapointed in the Axis. I set up a couple people to Demo this last year and all were pleasently surprised.
The witness is something that I cant wait to try out.
That and the Slingshots. Totally going to be worth it.
Now all we have to do is get that damn Global Warming thing moving...

Well its official, I have new wakeboard boots!!! Looks like you guys won't have to listen to me whine about how my old bindings anymore, I'm sure your all super bummed because you love stories about slowly delaminating wakeboard boots.

For the record the new kicks are LF Vantages!!!

On my old bindings the soft inner rubber was peeling off of the harder outer rubber esspecially on the heel pieces I guess thats what I meant by delaminating. At first it wasnt that bad but the seperation was getting worse and I just don't think they would have lasted the whole season.

Well, I got a good deal on these so that was part of the open toe/closed toe descion. But these were actually prolly going to be my first choice anyhow. I usually end up having to let a bunch of people use my set up and the open toe just seems like it will work better if someone with mondo feet shows up.

I hear ya on that, I don't really like sharing my gear but I have plenty of buddies that don't have their own set up. If my funds were looking a little better I'd keep an old board and bindings for them but as it is I spend spend spend.

On that note I done with this cold and headed to Mexico next week!!!

Funny I tried that with a pair of Ronix Ones last year and my buddy, who has tiny feet, loved them! He would always ask to put them on his board and ride with them... Kinda sucked, after a few rides he stripped the hardware.

John...note to self, don't let the friend use the Ronix boots this year. I know this local ski shop that will probably set him up with some cool "stuff".

I'm not letting anyone take my boots off of my board, if they want to ride my set up then they have to ride my set up. I mean I try to be accomidating but messing with my stance is just plain crazy!
